How does it feel to be selected as one of Abners Angels?
I feel honored that I have been selected. It feels good to know that my work is being noticed, because I work hard on my craft.
What made you become a model?
I wanted to become a model when I first discovered Alek Wek. She doesn’t “fit” the image that the modeling industry has spokenly, but unspokenly set for so long. Oftentimes models that look like her or me don’t get recognized or often represented. Even if we are, it’s not in a positive way. She made me feel like I can make it in this industry.
What is your most memorable modeling moment?
Hmm, I have a few, but one that I will always refer to is back in 2014 I did a fashion show at my school. Now, I was only in one scene and I was the last model to walk out. I lowkey felt like I was getting played, but I played it cool and kept it going. When I walked out, the crowd gave me a standing ovation and was hyping me up. I couldn’t break my face but inside was screaming, because I never got that type of response ever. That moment keeps me going till this day.
Are there any modeling goals you feel you haven’t achieved yet?
There’s so many goals that I haven’t achieved yet. I would love to walk in a show overseas by a top designer. Work with Rihanna (who wouldn’t though?). Be on the cover of a well-known magazine, just to name a few.

What physical features do you get the most compliments on?
I get a lot of compliments on my facial features, skin and legs.
Restaurant or home cooked meal?
Home cooked all day!! There’s nothing like a home cooked meal.
Concert or Broadway Play?
Concerts.
What do you miss the most about your childhood?
I miss everything about my childhood. I was in a space that allowed me to be a kid. Social media wasn’t really a thing at that time, so I would be outside climbing trees and collecting rocks and sticks with my best friend. I didn’t get my first cell phone until I was either 12 or 13 and it wasn’t a brand new phone. My mom gave me the historic Nokia phone that she had back in the day. Times were simple then and if I could go back in time and revisit those times I would.

If you could co-star in any movie with any actor/actress who would you choose and why?
This one is tough! But if I was to ever co-star in a movie I would love to work with Angela Bassett or Taraji P. Henson. Denzel Washington is an honorable mention. I feel like I would learn so much from them.
What is the best comedy movie ever?
I think the best comedy movie to me is White Chicks. It’s a classic in my book and I laugh every time I watch it.
What is something you think everyone should do at least once in their lives?
If anything, to travel. I’ve met a lot of people that haven’t gone out of the country, better yet the town they grew up in. I feel like you can learn so much just by traveling.
If you could give men one piece of advice, what would it be?
Man this article would be 50 pages alone just by answering this question! But if anything, just be honest. How can I expect to trust you if you can’t be honest with me about the simple, small stuff? Just be honest.

How can everyone keep in contact with you on social media?
You can follow me on Instagram at @themodelcourt and Twitter @courtniedanyell.
