Working Woman Wednesday. Interview With Owner of Kissable Lips Cosmetics.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I have always been a independent contractor since the tender age of 18, when I started doing brows and lashes, right after attending Cosmetology school.  I never knew I wanted to be a business owner until I went to Cosmetology school and we had projects that geared us into entrepreneurship.  Then shortly after working for companies that didn’t appreciate me, I learned what to do and what not to do when it came to my own business.

For a first-time buyer, what items would you recommend to purchase from your website?

Kissable Lips Cosmetics is a full line of cosmetics, from skin care to eyeshadow to lipgloss, everything beauty and trendy.  Our most popular product is our glitterbomb liptsticks, our lipgloss and our HD Foundation.  We have products for everyone, including men.  We launched a men’s skin care line called AKVH (A Kiss 4 Him).  Anyone can use it, it is geared specifically towards men so they will start taking care of their skin better.  Sometimes men don’t think skincare is for them, so I made sure they were included.

What is one thing you think customers should know about your store that they may not be aware of?

One thing customers should know about my store is that I take appointments to make sure each client gets the individual attention they need and their experience is not rushed.  This also allows proper sanitation in between clients, to ensure everyone is safe during this rough time of Covid19.

What is the hardest part about growing your business?

Is getting the word out to people that aren’t aware you exist.  Social media does assist in that nowadays, but marketing dollars are what most small businesses lack.  Getting funding for marketing is a little bit of a challenge.

What are some of your goals for the future of Kissable Lips Cosmetics?

One major goal of Kissable Lips Cosmetics is getting more online sales and making sure more people are aware of the brand.  The brand has been in existence for 15 years, we will be celebrating our 16 year anniversary this October.

If you could make an app, what would it do?

I am actually working on an app, for a new business.  I can’t speak too much about it, because I am still waiting on the patent.  In due time it will be revealed.

Where’s your favorite place to get take out or delivery from?

Cheesecake Factory and Carraba’s Italian Grill.

Were your parents strict or lenient?

My parents were partially strict, they weren’t overly strict.  Strict enough to the point where you knew what your weren’t supposed to do, which made us stay out of trouble.

What was one of the happiest moments of your childhood?

I don’t recall any happy moments in my childhood, not that there wasn’t any.  I just don’t recall any of them.  I’ve had more happy moments in my teen years/adult life that I remember more then a child hood memory.  Some of them meeting Jamie Foxx, Kevin Hart and a plethora of some of my favorite entertainers.

How would you change the world in 2020?

I would change 2020 by going back to the bartering system.  If we didn’t need money, people wouldn’t kill, steal and destroy just to try to get it.

How has your family shaped your personality and who you turned out to be?

My family has shaped my personality in two ways, business savvy talent and a great sense of humor.  I come from a family of musicians, artists, singers and business owners, who all have outgoing personalities and a silly side.
