Shout Out Sunday. Interview Chef Benjamin Leggitte.

What inspired you to become a chef?

I got inspired to become a chef, when I was younger.  Definitely growing up and watching my mom cook is what inspired me to become a chef.

What is your favorite cuisine to cook?

Would definitely be southern cuisine(Soul Food), because growing up that’s all my mom would cook.  Also Italian food, due to its rich and creative concept.

Describe your food in three words?

Creative, sensational and flavorful.

What role do you think social media plays in food today?

Social media has become such a key tool to use for chefs now, because it gives us a platform to showcase our talents inside and outside the kitchen.

What are your goals as a chef?

My goals as a chef is definitely to have my own restaurant one day.  I also want to create my own culinary school to help other people learn the art of culinary.

What do you want your supporters to know about you?

My supporters should know I’m very hardworking and try my best to master my craft in every dish they see on social media.

Who is on the guest list for your ideal dinner party?

My ultimate guest list for a ideal dinner party would be to have a small exclusive private dinner party for Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, Jay-Z and Beyoncé.  At a dinner table and just wow them with my food.

What must be seen or experienced in person to really appreciate it?

The hardwork you have to put in to become successful, because the late nights and early mornings is what makes your journey worth getting to your destination in life.

If you could go back and relive one year from your childhood, which year would it be and why?

Around 2002/2003, I miss going to the country and going to my grandparents houses in Monroeville, Alabama.  Seeing them and hanging out with all my cousins and seeing my aunts and uncles growing up (the good ol days).

If given a chance to meet three most famous people on the earth, who would it be, answer in order of preference?

1. Barack Obama.  He is the first African American president and was (still is) a inspiration to me, because he taught me anything was possible.

2. Jay-Z.  He is a billionaire and because of the amount of knowledge he could share with me about business and becoming wealthy.

3. Floyd Mayweather Jr.  I’m a big fan of boxing and due to the fact he is my favorite boxer of all time.
