Stylez with the Smilez is a self-taught photographer hailing from Philadelphia.  He is the founder of Visual Vibration brand to showcase his work as a conceptual, experimental fine art photographer.  The name came from Stylez recognizing that photos send off vibrations to the visual eye and these vibrations can stimulate deep thoughts.  He describes his work as edgy and experimental with a touch of sensuality.

When did you realize you wanted to become a photographer and was there any photographer who work influenced you the most?

I always been fascinated with photography since a kid.  I love capturing images.  Some of my favorite photographers is Anne Leibovitz, Gordan Parks, Terry Richardson and Shawn Theodore.

What are your favorite things to photograph?

Women.

What is one model you would love to work with?

Rihanna or Solange.  They not models, but i would love to shoot them.

What would be some tips you would give to a beginning photographer?

Focus on developing your photography eye.  Dont worry about the quality camera and having all the fancy equipment.  You have a good eye you can create magic with any camera.

What are some favorite things about being a photographer? What are some challenges you’ve encountered?

My favorite thing is taking the pictures.  Learning lighting was a challenge that i eventually overcame.

Vsco, Instagram and Twitter.

What’s your most valuable possession?

My life.

Beach.

Aquarium.

Sunrise or sunset?

Sunrise.

What’s your best childhood memory?

My mother buying me a camera when i was 12.  It was a Kodak film camera.  I told her I wanted to do photography.  It’s funny that’s what I do now.

Do you think your childhood was better or worse than other people growing up in a similar place and time?

Probably better to some.
