Abners Angels Presents Interview With Model “LaAngenise Kemp”

LaAngenise Kemp was born and raised in Miami, Florida.  Her family is from the Bahamas and she is an aspiring model.  She started taking modeling serious for about a year now.

How does it feel to be selected as one of the Abners Angels?

It feels great to have been chosen as one of the Angels.  It’s something that I was very excited to be a part of.  I am super happy to have been given this chance.

How long have you been modeling for and what inspired you to become a model?

At first, I never took modeling serious I started when I was about 23 it was just a hobby to start off with.  Then I got booked for a casting call, which just took me to a different level.  That show just inspired me so much to take my hobby to the next level.  The feeling behind bringing another person’s master piece to life is just a get feeling.

What is your most memorable modeling moment?

My most memorable moment in modeling would have to be my very first casting.  I was super nervous and afraid of what could happen.  However, with nerves comes great work as well as long as you remain focused.  I learned so much about myself that casting still stays with me till this day.  It really taught me that when you walk into a casting, give it your all.  No matter what you’re wearing, because you never know who is watching you.

How do you deal with insecurities?

The insecurities that I have, I honestly try to work on them so that they don’t bother me as much.  If there is part of my body that I don’t like at that moment I will go to the gym to fix that.  For example, my body not being as toned as others is an insecurity I deal with.  I just work out four to five times a week to fix that. Other insecurities, such as the structure of my face is just something that I have learned to live with and just not let them change who I am as a person or allow it to bring me down.

What are some of the biggest challenges you have faced?

The biggest challenges I have faced is being comfortable in front of different photographers, can sometimes be super challenging at times.  Also, trying to find the perfect pictures for your portfolio is super hard at times.  You never want to send the wrong messages to agencies.

What is one person you would love to work with?

I would love to work with Jourdan Dunn.  She is my favorite model, she just brings so much passion and great work into the modeling world.  She has done so much great work and has been modeling since the age of 13.  She has accomplished so much as a African American model from the UK.

How would you describe your personality? How would other people describe your personality, the same or different?

I would say I’m a fun and great person.  I love to try new things and learn new things. I am nice, responsible and always on the go.  I love to stay busy working or doing something to not stay bored.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I love playing sports, but I hate working out.  I’m super backwards, but playing sports is so much more fun than the getting in shape part.

Who makes your favorite jeans?

I would have to say Fashion Nova has some of the best jeans, especially for slim woman.

If you got stuck in the elevator and was forced to listen to only one song, which would it be?

I would say Thank U, Next by Ariana Grande.

New York or Los Angeles?

New York would be my first choice, because it’s the home of the fashion world.  The only thing I would have to get use to would be the cold.  I really hate the cold actually, being a Florida girl.  I love to be in the warm weather.

Dubai or Paris?

I would choose Paris, just because it’s such a beautiful place with season weather and great food I heard.  I would to get the chance to go sightseeing and also be a part of their great fashion world as well.  They have some of the top models that have come from there.

What’s your most valuable possession?

My most valuable possession would be my chain that I received from my grandmother and grandfather before he passed away.

What is the most embarrassing that happened to you in school?

I use to be super clumsy cause I grew super-fast as a child.  I was 5’10 when I was 10 years old.  I hit my growth spur early and became super clumsy.  One day I was running away from my best friend and I slipped and fell in front of half the school during lunch time.

What should every woman try at least once in her life?

Every woman should try getting out their comfort zone in life.
