Atlanta Hawks Forward John Collins recently returned from injury on November 17th, playing his first game of the 2018-19 NBA season against the Indiana Pacers. He has played in 10 games so far this season with averages of 16.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.4 assists a game. Collins is averaging 27.4 minutes while shooting 62.6% from the field and 77.8% from the line. His numbers have improved from his rookie season and went up in most statistical categories except blocks, three-point % and steals.
Collins has averaged 18.8 points, 10 rebounds and 1.8 assists in his last five games and recorded a double-double in four of those games. His best game was against the Washington Wizards, he finished with 26 points, 14 rebounds and made 12 out of his 17 shots. Collins has posted four double-doubles this season and he finished with 11 last season as a rookie. Collins currently leads the Hawks in points and rebounds per game.
Collins still has areas he needs to improve in, his defensive abilities and outside shot need to improve. If Collins develops a consistent jumper he would be more dangerous with his athleticism. He is only a sophomore in the NBA and still has plenty of time to develop. His future is looking bright and he is playing like the Hawks best player.
A lot of teams missed out on good player in the 2017 NBA Draft with Collins being selected with the 19th pick. Collins is playing like a lottery pick and has the potential to become a NBA All-Star. The Hawks got a steal with the 19th pick with Collins.
