Tori Franklin is a Nike sponsored U.S.A Triple Jumper.  She is from Chicago and a graduate of Michigan State University.  The American record holder is not only a lover of playing in the sand, but also writing and doing public speaking events in Universities and high schools.

How much time in the gym have you had to put in to be where you are?

This has been years of work as far as how much time I’ve put in.  In college we lifted four times a week for a little over an hour.  Now I do about two times a week sometimes three for about the same amount of time.  I’m out on the track 5-6 days a week.

What is your most memorable track & field moment?

My most memorable track and field moment is when my college team at Michigan State University won the BIG Ten Conference meet.  It was the first time in 32 years and it required all of us as a team to be at our very best.  It was an amazing moment.

What events do you participate in and what’s your favorite event to
participate in?

I participate in the triple jump, but used to love running the 400m.

What athlete was the most difficult you ever faced?

Right now the most difficult athlete is Caterina Ibarguen.  She is killing the game.

Best health/lifestyle advice you were ever given and would pass on to others?

As important as it is to take care of your physical body, eating properly and exercising.  It is just as important to make sure you are mentally sound and spiritually balanced (Advice from self to self.)

Who is someone that’s impacted your life or helped you become who you are?

I would say my parents.  They’ve made me the goofy, easy going person that I am, but also were an example of what it means to work hard to achieve what you want.

What is your biggest fear?

My biggest fear is not living a full, wholehearted, and adventurous life.

What would you like to be remembered for?

For how much I made someone smile or feel loved/appreciated.

Your favorite meal?

Macaroni and cheese, it needs nothing else!

Your favorite music artist?

I have a few, I enjoy Janelle Monae, Lauryn Hill, Tupac Shakur, Kendrick Lamar, Whitney Houston and I could literally go on.

Your favorite movie?

Apocalypto, Gladiator, The Time Travelers Wife, Age of Adaline, Hobbit- Battle of 5 armies, Madagascar 2.. again I could go on.
