Jayda Adams is a Sophomore Guard with Duke Women’s Basketball Team.  Jayda is from Irvine, California and played high school basketball at Mater Dei.  She helped lead Mater Dei to the CIF Championship game, was selected First-Team All-County and Trinity League Co-MVP during her senior year.  She was ranked No.36 prospect by Prospects Nation and No. 41 prospect by All Star Girls Report.  Jayda appeared in all 33 games for Duke during her Freshman season, coming off the bench every game.

What are your goals for this upcoming season?

Get my shooting percentage up, become a more complete player, have a great time with my team and win a national championship.

What team are you looking forward to facing next season?

Notre Dame.

Any pregame rituals or superstitions?

I have to make sure my hair is done, like i don’t care if it gets messed up while i play.  I have to make sure it looks decent and I can’t look at my phone after I’ve already stepped on the court to shoot.  I don’t know why but I feel like it’s bad luck.

What is the biggest reason that you came to Duke?

The biggest reason I came was the challenge I would get from both basketball and academics.

What Is One Thing You Want To Happen Before You Leave Duke?

Before I leave duke I want to win a national championship.

Who is your favorite athlete?

I actually don’t have one specific person.  I have so many people that I love to watch and I get excited that it’s hard to have just one.

What song On your iPod would surprise people?

One song that would surprise people: I write sins not tragedies by Panic! at the Disco.  It probably won’t surprise most people who personally know me, but those on the outside might be shocked.

Favorite musician or genre of music?

I don’t have a favorite, because I love all kinds of music.  But if there’s one person that hits my soul every time no matter what mood, it’d have to be Lauryn Hill.

What’s something you thought you’d grow out of but haven’t?

One habit i thought I’d grow out of would be talking too much.  I think it’s gotten worse as I go on.  I’m meeting more people and I just have so many things to say lol.

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?

I am very good at cooking.

What kind of TV shows and movies do you like to watch?

I love movies, especially scary movies because I love laughing at myself after I get scared.  TV shows i like all kinds it’s actually ridiculous.
