Working Woman Wednesday. Interview With Actress/Model Amber Barnes.

Tell everyone how you were discovered and how your acting career started?

I was discovered by being a background, then worked my way up to being features and learning lines.  Being able to perform the characters I was representing and building relationships with people in the industry.  Everything I needed to know I would ask my fellow peers and experienced actors/actresses for advice or go to Google for advice.

When it comes to acting, what is something we would be surprised to learn?

I would say that acting is just part of the job.  You have to know your marks and being able to learn the lightening of the production.  A lot of these directors doesn’t have your lighting right and that is critical when it comes to being on film.

What are some of the perks working as an actress?

Being able to bond with the cast and crew and molding yourself into your character, so that you can tell their story to the world.

What is your favorite physical attribute about yourself?

I love that I am passionate, humble, driven and persistent.  I don’t listen to negativity, because I know everyone has their time to shine one day.

What three things do you need to be successful as a model?

My runway skills, my skills to network and being photogenic.

Any upcoming projects coming up that you would like to share with readers?

I am currently working as a full time stand in with Yaya Dacosta on Our Kind of People and I also have a featured role on here.  I was booked as a reporter on a Hallmark movie called “Christmas in Harmony.”  Halloween Kickback is out that I’m in and that’s on Vudu, Tubi and Amazon Prime.  I’m also in “Line Sisters” that will be on lifetime and I’m currently filming for a major movie called “A Such thing as Too late” with David Williamson.  I am lead on this film and I’m just now working as a reoccurring detective on Netflix’s movie “Florida Man.”  I’m in a lot of projects, but this is just to name a few.

What’s one song that gets your family together singing and dancing?

I would say Stevie Wonder is a classic for us, all of his songs are great.

What is the one technology that has made the world a better place?

Cell phones, I’m always on mine.

What are the top three places you need to see before you die?

I want to go to California, New York and to see the rainforest.  I haven’t been to these places yet.

What is the one book or movie that made you change your point of view on a subject?

One book would be Atomic Habits.  It teaches you how to overcome bad habits and build better ones.  One movie would be Will Smith on Pursuit of Happiness.

What is one thing you were afraid to do, but felt amazing after you accomplished it?

I was afraid to quit my job and become a full-time actress.  I thought I wouldn’t make it but look at me now.  I’m making good money being able to provide for my family, including my beautiful daughter Autumn Bell.  I’m also working hard to help my best friend Jessica Lynch build her foundation, so she can help the homeless in all areas locally.  I still have my chiropractic job back at home, because Dr. Kurtz and my friends are rooting me on.

How can everyone keep in contact with you on social media?
