Memphis’ Austin, Temple’s Kwenkeu, Houston’s Nunnery Take Weekly Football Honors

The American Athletic Conference has announced the winners of the league’s weekly football honors for the second week of the 2021 season.
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Calvin Austin III • Sr. • WR • Memphis
Austin had six receptions for 239 yards — the most by an NCAA FBS player in a game this season — and three long touchdowns to lead Memphis to a 55-50 win at Arkansas State. Austin had touchdown receptions of 55, 50 and 75 yards, including a fourth-quarter TD that stood up as the gamewinner.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
William Kwenkeu • Gr. • LB • Temple
Kwenkeu had seven tackles with 2.0 sacks, 2.5 tackles for loss and a 38-yard fumble return for a touchdown in Temple’s 45-24 win at Akron. His TD was one of two defensive scores for the Owls, who limited the Zips to 10 points through the final three quarters.
 
SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Mannie Nunnery • RFr. • LB • Houston
Nunnery blocked two punts, one of which led to a Houston touchdown, to help the Cougars to a 44-7 win at Rice. Nunnery is one of three FBS players with two blocked kicks in a game this season. 
 
HONOR ROLL
Dillon Gabriel • Jr. • QB • UCF
Had 355 yards of total offense with three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) in a 63-14 win against Bethune-Cookman.

Logan Hall • Jr. • DT • Houston
Had a team-high eight tackles with 2.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks in a 44-7 win at Rice. 
 
Ulysses Bentley IV • So. • RB • SMU
Rushed for 141 yards and a touchdown and had a TD reception in a 35-12 win against North Texas. 
 
Isaiah Nwokobia • Fr. • S • SMU
Had seven tackles with a sack and an interception in a 35-12 win against North Texas.
 
Randle Jones • Jr. • WR • Temple
Had seven receptions for 170 yards, six first downs and two touchdowns in a 45-24 win at Akron.
