What inspired you to become an artist?

The love of music and the passion that I have. Just wanting to get my feelings out through a song.

What impact do you want your music to have on society?

I really want it to empower women and motivate those who don’t feel they have a voice to embrace it.

With music being a tougher industry for women, what do you use as motivation to keep going?

Faith in knowing that no matter what happens, I’m going to be successful. Confidence in myself.

2020 has been quite an interesting year to say the least. Many have used their quarantine time to find a new hobby, perfect crafts and establish hidden talents. While many others found themselves faced with many difficult challenges. What can you say the pandemic has done for you, career wise and personally?

I’ve been working to perfect my craft as well, writing and singing, so when things open up I’m ready to go.

What have you learned about yourself this year that can help you along the way?

I learned that I could sit still. I realized how much music really changes a person’s outlook and I discovered a deeper love for it.

What should we look forward to seeing and hearing from you in the future?

Well I released Waiting and Catch My Wave a few months ago. I just released my Christmas version of Santa Baby that I am very excited about.

Do you have any advice for the young ladies that look up to you?

Your voice is so important, make sure you are using it. Never let anyone speak for you.

How do you deal with adversity?

I just remind myself that it’s all temporary and I will get through it.

What do you value most and why?

Family, no matter what it’s all you have.

If you had a daily playlist, what five songs would be on there?

You’re Mine – Yung Bleu featuring Drake
Photograph – J. Cole
Gold Roses – Rick Ross
If You Let Me – Sinead Harnett
Never Need You – Drea Dominique

Who is the most influential person in your life and why?

My mother, just seeing all the struggles she overcame. She was a foster child, grew up and became a mom of two, started a business, went bankrupt and rebuilt her business. She is very inspiring to me.

How can everyone keep in contact with you on social media?

@dreadominique on Instagram.
