What inspired you to write The Secret to Breaking the BROKE Code: 5 Steps to Growth, Abundance and Overflow?

I really wanted to write about my life.  Who I am, why I am and how I came to be.  I wanted people to get an understanding that you don’t have to be born into great circumstances to live a life of purpose and the power to effect change in other people’s lives is the reason I do it.  Life has been great.  I wanted to show people that if a regular around the way girl, from the Bay Area can do something amazing, they can too.

What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Just do it! People sit on thoughts and ideas that so many people need to hear and they get stuck trying to figure it all out before they start.  Start writing, write it all out.  Write down your ideas and figure out how to format it later.  I never had a desire to become an author.  I just wanted to help people, that’s why I wrote my first book keeping score.  It was simply a guide to help people with their credit and it became a best seller.  After the success of that, I desired to just share who I am on a deeper level.  That’s where BROKE Code came in.  I share my peaks and valleys, trials and triumphs.  Everything that has made me thus far.  I know life is not over for hardships that may come, but I understand how to navigate them.

What do you feel separates your books from others?

There are a lot of great books out there, but this is MY truth.  My guide that has helped me and I feel it can change so many others lives.  It’s my best work and I’m super proud of it.  It can come up against some of the best out there.

Beach, all day.

Depends on the day, but I’ll take a picnic.  Those are much more thought out.

Art, I love taking my children to museums.  I like them to be exposed to more than amusement parks or PlayStations.  I want them to be exposed to the other side of life and art is just so beautiful.

What should every woman try at least once in her life?

Knowing your real worth and understand you deserve it (whatever IT is).

Driving in the car with my parents, brother and sister.  I think that may have happened once in my life.  It felt so secure and that one moment I felt like I had a family.
