How did you come up with the name SHELL™ Clothing Brand?
The slang term “SHELL” is unique to Charlotte (and North Carolina) and represents being hard, fearless, crazy, wild and/or overly confident. The turtle shell was chosen as the logo, because it is symbolic of determination, perseverance, strength, patience and longevity. SHELL™ Clothing Brand is my way to pay homage to the city that raised me.
For a first-time buyer, what shirt or items would you recommend to purchase from your website?
The Classic SHELL™ Tee or Hoodie features our iconic turtle logo in multiple colors. Check out our OG Presidential or Redacted Tee for a streetwear look.
What is unique about your clothing?
Our clothing subtly represents the Charlotte area and the Carolinas, in a way that locals will identify with. While still having a broad appeal to customers from a wide range of demographics.
What current items are your best sellers?
We recently sold out of our Classic SHELL™ Sweatshorts, which were very popular this summer and we are always selling Classic SHELL™ Tees.
What are some of your goals for the future of SHELL™ Clothing Brand?
Our #1 goal is to be a global brand that gives back to the community. First, we are working to be a pillar in our local SC/NC Communities with a special focus on supporting anti-bullying and turtle conservation initiatives. In addition to this philanthropic work, we will continue to grow our customer base and aim to establish a storefront to showcase our future “cut and sew” collections.
What are your three favorite items in your closet?
Yeezys, SHELL™ Sweatsuit and SHELL™ Windbreaker.
Where’s the coolest place you’ve ever been/traveled to?
Aruba. Beach, desert, flamingos and year round paradise.
Is there anything you would like people to know about you?
SHELL™ Clothing Brand has new sweatsuits, windbreakers, hoodies, graphic tees, hats and women’s products dropping before the end of the year. Now is the time to stay ALWAYS SHELL!
If you could go back in time, would you do anything differently?
We have been planning and developing the line for close to two years. We didn’t open our online shop until we had a substantial amount of products to choose from, which worked well. In hindsight, I would have opened the shop with just one product to build a customer base that could truly see us grow in addition to getting early feedback.
Has there been an incidence that has changed your life forever?
The birth of my child gave me a sense of purpose that allowed me to focus on getting better at whatever I do.
