The Miami Heat defeated the Atlanta Hawks 106-97 in back to back games. The Hawks played their first game of the season without Trae Young. The Heat went into halftime with a 52-46 lead. Rookie Kendrick Nunn got hot with 12 points in the third quarter. Nunn scored a career high 28 points and became the first rookie since Kevin Durant to score 100 points in his first five games.
Meyers Leonard had 16 points, 8 rebounds and 2 blocks for the Heat. Jimmy Butler shot poorly from the field, but made up for it with 5 points, 9 rebounds, 11 assists and 6 steals for Miami. Jabari Parker led the Hawks off the bench with 23 points and 8 rebounds. DeAndre’ Bembry came off the bench also for the Hawks with 18 points, 10 rebounds and 8 assists. Hawks Rookies Cam Reddish and DeAndre Hunter combined to shoot 3-of-20 from the field and combined to score 13 points.
The Heat had five players to score in double figures and they had more blocks and steals than the Hawks. The Hawks are 2-3 now and have lost three games in a row. The Heat improve to 4-1 now with two wins in a row, both of them against the Hawks.
