The New York Liberty defeated the Atlanta Dream 71-63 on the final day of the WNBA regular season. The Dream finished the season with a surprising 8-26 record and the Liberty finished 10-24 record. The Dream finished with the worst record In the WNBA and the Liberty tied for the second worst record. Tina Charles led the Liberty with 14 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists.
Amanda Zahui B. finished with a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Alex Bentley came off the bench to score a game-high 17 points. Brittney Sykes had 12 points and 7 rebounds and Jessica Breland had a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds. Angel McCoughtry played her first game of the season and only played the first three seconds of the game. The Dream and Liberty both have long seasons and will look to the draft and free agency this offseason to improve.
Angel McCoughtry hopefully should return next season 100% healthy. Along with a high draft pick, the Dream should be back in the playoffs next season. Angel is getting older, her and the rookie they draft would be a nice way to retire to win her first WNBA title. That would be a Dream for Angel and the city of Atlanta.
