Abners Angels Presents Interview With Model “Talisha Williams”

Talisha Williams was born and raised in Richmond, Virginia.  She started modeling and acting a couple of years ago.  It was always a dream of hers since she was a little girl.  She wasn’t happy with her career at the time, so she just decided to go for it.  She got started by just doing trade shoots to buildup her portfolio with different photographers in her city.  Her works include CW Richmond’s “The Heart” series TV show, feature length films Fresh Perspective Productions’ “Keystroke” and Bobby Mercer Productions’ “Dirty Money”.  She has also been featured in national and local television commercials.  As a fashion model, she walked in New York and DC Fashion Week and Miami Swim Week.  She has been published in multiple print and online magazines and worked with numerous fashion designers and brands.

How does it feel to be selected as one of the Abners Angels?

It feels awesome to be recognized for my work! I’ve been working very hard for the past two years building my modeling and acting career.

What are your modeling goals for 2019?

My goal for this year is to get signed by a talent and modeling agency.  I was just signed to a talent manager.  I already have one goal down, just one more to go!

What are some of the difficulties of the modeling business?

There are a lot difficulties in modeling.  It’s a tough industry to crack into.  Just to name a few.  You have to have tough skin, because you may not always have the look the designer or client is looking for.  You may get turned away for a job simply, because you’re not skinny, big enough or because your nose is too big etc.  You can’t let the criticism get to you, there are plenty of jobs in this industry to go around.  You just have to find your modeling niche and stick to it.  Another one is rejection.  You will hear a lot of No’s, before you hear that one ‘Yes’ that will change your career.  So just keep going and never give up.

What physical features do you get the most compliments on? What are you insecure about?

My most complimented features are my smile, my eyes and my legs.  I am not insecure about anything.  I love myself and my body.

What are some of the perks working as a model?

Some of the perks of modeling for me is getting free products and clothing.  I am also a model influencer on Instagram, so companies are always sending me products and clothes to post to my Insta that I can keep for free.  Sometimes after a shoot with a boutique or designer I get to keep an outfit or two.  Another perk is meeting other models and creatives.  I always meet the nicest people on set that I usually end up collaborating with in the future.

What advice would you give to aspiring models?

Just keep moving forward and don’t get discouraged.  If you know you are confident in your craft, don’t stop working.  You will hear a million no’s before you get that one YES.

What’s the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to you?

I was at a costume party on Halloween once.  I was dancing and fell in the middle of the floor and everyone just stopped and looked at me, lol.

What are you looking forward to the most this Spring?

I’m looking forward the most to being signed by a modeling agency in LA.  That will grant me the ability to move to LA this year and work with bigger clients on the West Coast and all over the world.

What are some small pleasures that make you way happier than they should?

Eating Pho, which is a Vietnamese noodle soup, watching videos of animals and babies and my nieces.  I have two, one six and the other 15 months.  When they do just about anything it brings me joy and makes my heart swell.

Money or fame?

Beach vacation or European vacation?

Which insecurity would shock people if they knew about it?

I don’t think this would shock my closest friends, but I hate when people look at my feet.

How can everyone keep in contact with you on social media?

You can follow me on Instagram @_talishawilliams_ .  I also have Facebook which is my name Talisha Williams.
