What’s the first painting you ever sold?
I believe it was a Muhammad Ali painting.
What do you believe is a key element in creating a good painting?
Energy. If you can see the energy in a painting, I believe that makes a great piece of artwork.
Where are you finding ideas for your work these days?
I try to pull as much ideas from the universe as I can, but I still am inspired by other artwork and nature as well.
What is your favorite painting and why?
My favorite painting now has to be my Harry Belafonte….it changed my life.
What do you feel separates your art from others?
It’s like soul food. It may not be the most technical or “by the book” but you can feel the love in it.
Describe your profession with five words?
Bringing people’s visions to life.
What is the biggest challenge you face professionally?
Creative blocks and time management are challenging for me as an artist.
What is one memory you have from childhood?
Selling graffiti drawings in elementary school for S0.50 cent and a $1.00.
When you’re feeling down, who or what is your biggest go-to person or activity?
I believe the right music can change any mood, so I put on a good playlist or one song on repeat.
Where’s the coolest place you’ve ever been/traveled to?
So far, probably Wynwood in Miami.
What’s your most valuable possession?
My Harry Belafonte autographed poster.
