Tell readers about your business and when did you start it?

Like most entrepreneurs, I started my business as a part time hustle.  Then it progressed to a full time fun business.  Shortly after I committed to the business, clients increased and I took on more business-mind.  I started Charde’ Rene’ about three years ago out of my house after doing hair around town from time to time.  Then expansion came, I was blessed to open my own suite and I’ve been steadily breaking glass ceilings every since!

Did you take any specific training to become a makeup artist?

I started my makeup career at Aveda Institute of Charlotte, I think that’s when I fell in love again with makeup.  I was going for hair, but makeup was just screaming at me.  I have Paul Mitchell training, have taken countless makeup courses and classes throughout the East Coast.  After working with Clinique and Estee Lauder, I realized my skill was great enough to generate revenue without a big name corporation behind it.

What inspired you to start your own business?

I decided to start my own business, because I have full control over what matters to me the most.  Being a full time mother I needed something that was going to work for me. Being in the beauty industry is something that I genuinely love and it doesn’t feel like work to me.  This business has brought about so many opportunities and generated so much income that I can’t really see myself doing anything else.

What do you feel separates your work from others?

I feel like my work is one of a kind, because I accentuate the natural beauty in each individual.  I start from the inside out when I perform with my clients.  I make a connection with them and bring out the best in them by the time our session has ended.  I build their confidence while sitting in my chair.  I also try to send each individual out with a makeup tip to do at home to keep up their look.

What is the makeup trends coming up this Fall?

I predict the 2018 Fall Beauty Trend is going to be a super natural sleek look with a bold lip color. Traditional Autumn colors like burgundy, dark browns and nudes will still be in full effect this year.

What’s the best part about your job?

The best part about my job is ultimately the gorgeous looks and newfound confidence I give each individual that sits in my chair.

What’s the best thing about your life right now?

The best thing about my life right now probably would be the fact that I am living.  I don’t take simple things for granted and me waking up everyday is a gift that keeps on giving.  As long as I have breathe, my mission is to put a genuine long-lasting smile on someone’s face.

What is the best compliment you’ve ever received?

The best compliments I received are from my children.  I love when a child compliments me, that means its REAL.  Lol, children never lie so any compliment from them are always genuine.

What beauty products you can’t live without?

Beauty products I can’t live without are lip gloss, mascara and a brow pencil! Those are my everyday staples.  I don’t leave the house without those and I have an extra pair in my pocketbook at all times 😉

Three words your best friends would use to describe you?

The top three words my friends would use to describe me would probably be REBEL, BOSS CHICK AND JOKESTER.
