An-Nikita Kay is a curvaceous, petite, charismatic, young lady who has a strong passion for all things fashion and beauty.  She was born in Richmond, Virginia, An-Nikita is a Published Model, Club Host, Brand Ambassador, and MUA.  Modeling is her platform to encourage and inspire others with grace, class, beauty and style.  Currently she is a brand ambassador for Fashion Nova and a few other boutiques on the east coast.

How does it feel to be selected as one of the Abners Angels?

It feels absolutely exciting and humbling to be selected as one of the Abners Angels.  This is my first ever interview and hopefully a door opener to many more!

What has been your favorite shoot / campaign / work to date?

My favorite shoot/ campaign would have to be the one for my MUA Brand, Glisten N Glam, shot by Feridon Terry.  I recent did a shoot with six other models and myself, the project was named “The Melanin Bunch”.  In the Melanin Bunch project, I showcased my makeup skills and introduced my lash line. It was so much fun!

What was your first big break in the industry?

I wouldn’t say I’ve had that big break into the industry just yet or maybe I’m just hard on myself.  I think something big was being asked to be a brand ambassador for Fashion Nova.

Who was your role model as a child and how did that help in being a model?

My role model as a child, when I started paying attention Naomi Campbell.  I remember flipping through Ebony and Essence magazines thinking she was pretty and looked like me.  I think her signature walk and her photos helped influenced me to become a model.

Is modeling an easy job or more strenuous than people realize?

I would say this is more strenuous of a job than people realize! You definitely have to have tough skin, be secure in yourself and be willing to take risks.  Also, you have to constantly promote, market yourself and research! It’s more to it than looking cute and taking pictures.

How do you deal with insecurities?

I try not to focus on anything negative about myself and embrace me for me…natural curves, cellulite and all.  Sometimes, I have to be my own hype man and certain music helps me too.

What’s the scariest thing you’ve ever done?

Lol, I’m scared of everything, but I walked on a frozen lake and I can’t swim.

What’s your guilty pleasure snack, drink, or junk food?

Pineapples!!! I love pineapple to the point it’s become a nickname.

Would you rather go out or stay in on a Saturday night?

I’m actually a homebody so a Saturday night in cuddled up with some good food and watching Power.  Let there be something exciting going on in town.  If I’m hosting I’m in there lol and out for the night!

What’s one thing you’ve learned about yourself from a past relationship?

One thing I’ve learned about myself from my last relationship is strength.  The saying you never know how strong you are until being strong is your only choice, is absolutely true!

If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

I would go to Dubai! Oh My God I think it’s such a beautiful place, I love the culture, the fashion.  Honestly I need to get to that mall, ride the camel and try the sand boards!

What is one thing that brings a smile to your face, no matter the time of day?

Memories with my Dad.  He recently passed away, but I can honestly say I had the best moments and experiences with him.  We had some of the silliest times together.
