Tell readers about your new book New Student Jitters?

New School Jitters focuses on my youngest daughter, Journi and her experience starting a new school.  She’s filled with so many feelings and emotions about attending a new school.  Check it out to see how she handles her first day at a new school.

Describe your book in three words?

Relatable, fun and inspiring.

What do you hope readers will take away from this story?

I hope to help readers to understand the social and emotional feelings children may experience when faced with big life changes and to let them know it will be okay.

What inspired you to write your first book?

I was inspired to write my first book because after speaking with my children when we relocated to Atlanta from Jacksonville, Florida.  The feelings they all had about moving and making new friends I know other children would be able to relate.  I decided to take their experience to let other children know they are not the only ones who may experience those feelings and to let them know things will work out just fine.

What advice would you give to aspiring authors?

Some advice I would give aspiring authors is to just go for it! Write that book and get it done.  You never know who and how your story may help others.

What was the last thing you were really excited about?

That last thing I was excited about was my children starting school this month.  My oldest daughter started middle school.  That’s an exciting time in a child’s life so that made me excited too!

What’s a lost skill no one seems to remember how to do anymore?

A lost skill people have lost I would say Is remembering someone’s phone number by heart! With these new smart phones people are relying on them for everything.

Where would you go if it was completely paid for?

I would backpack through Africa, I’ve always wanted to visit.

What must be seen or experienced in person to really appreciate it?

I would say love! Everyone’s experiences are different, however some may never experience true and unconditional love.

What simple change in your life, would have the biggest positive impact?

I would say changing my diet.  Eating more healthy foods so I can make sure to be here for my family.  I love fried foods and pastas.

If you could meet any figure from history, who would it be?

Maya Angelo.  She was filled with so much wisdom and knowledge.  I would have loved to have a conversation with her.
