Working Woman Wednesday. Interview With Owner of Beads Se Lavie.

What inspired you to start your own business?

The inspiration for starting my jewelry business came from me admiring another fellow Instagram mate SupaCent (Owner of the Crayon Case).  Her drive and ambition pushed me to work hard on my laptop every night, to pave a way to touch as many people as I possibly can with my products.

As a business owner, what are your top three priorities?

Customer satisfaction from our product and services.  Maintain cashflow.  Expand business products and ventures.

What current items are your best sellers?

All Red & White and Pink and Green Sorority Necklaces & Bracelets

What is one thing you think customers should know about your store that they may not be aware of?

We are not just any jewelry store, we carry other household items that are sold currently on Walmart and Amazon.  We carry other products ranging from baby clothes to pet accessories.  We have everything you need in one website.

What helped you get where you are today and what steps did you take?

My ambition is why I have succeeded in life thus far.  Also, having strict African parents, going to college at 16 and never depending on anyone but myself.

If you could stay one age for the rest of your life, what age would it be?

That’s a good one, I would say 21.  That was the best year of my life!

What’s one song that gets your family together singing and dancing?

Ain’t Nobody by Chaka Khan.

What was one of the happiest moments of your childhood?

Definitely going back to Ghana, Africa when I was under 10.  Preparing to cook and pluck a live chicken will change your life.  I never had chicken so good since then!

Who is your favorite historical figure?

Rosa Parks, she reminds me of myself in regard to how fearless she was.  We need more people like her in this generation.

What is the one book or movie that made you change your point of view on a subject?

Pay It Forward: It is an inspiring story of an 11-year-old boy who starts a project of practicing kindness and compassion that spreads to others.  While in the real world, the abundance in the practice of selfishness might overtake altruism, there is no price to pay for wishful thinking or is there? It’s a movie that makes you yearn for a better world where there is a pay-it-forward scheme of kindness and inspires you to try and do the same.

If you could turn back time, knowing what you know now, what would you do differently?

This is an action or question I strive to avoid.  I plan daily, weekly and monthly regarding all aspects in life to avoid this very question.
