Shout Out Sunday. Interview With Music Artist Mi.Yayø.

What inspires the music you create?

My music is inspired solely from my lifestyle, from past to present! Experience is the best teacher and when I realized others were going through similar things, I decided to reach out through music to give them hope.

What was your favorite artist growing up?

My favorite artist(s) growing up were Lil’ Wayne, Biggie, Tupac and Michael Jackson.  All of them influence the type of music I create today.  I’m paying homage to the greats in a generation that took a major turn in music.

If you could change anything about the music industry, what would it be?

Honestly, just the “fake” about the industry.  Music is a path to the soul and a major influence on all ages, especially the youth.  I believe it should be there to set examples and not to influence the bullsh*t!

Any upcoming projects coming up that you would like to share with readers?

Yes, I do, I have a project coming in October with no set date as of now.  This is my debut EP and it’s produced entirely by my producer Gieaux.  After releasing my debut album, “Underestimated,” on April 28 of this year, I’ve been learning the obstacles of being “independent” and am figuring it out.  Back to music releases, sorry for the wait fans!

What’s the first concert you ever went to?

Was a Pretty Ricky concert, not even knowing who they were at the time.  It was a way to get out the house when I was 12 or 13 years old.  I do admit, I was a little thrown off when they came out with their custom SpongeBob outfits on.  The music was lit and there was plenty of women in the crowd to be happy about as a youngin’, lol.

The song that gets the most play on your iTunes playlist?

My top playlist song right now is “Misunderstood,” which kicks off my album “Underestimated,” which is also my top played song by my fans.  Which actually doesn’t surprise me due to the words, emotions and story put behind the song.

What celebrity would you rate a perfect 10?

My celebrity crush…Hmm I would say Tinashe, but not centered around looks entirely. It’s more for her work ethic, vocals and what she displays.

What is something you can never find when you need it?

Seems like whatever it is that I need at that moment! I’ll see everything when I don’t need it, but as soon as I need it, it’s scavenger hunt time.

What invention has done more harm than good?

Technology by far.  Although MANY perks alongside it, I feel as though it’s being used in the wrong manner.  It’s hypnotizing and subliminally destroying mankind.

What’s the best thing you got going on in your life at the moment?

Being a father to my princess and music.  Both of which enhance my daily drive and motivation.  I’ve always loved music and played with it.  I didn’t see myself as being an artist, especially full-time, until she was born.

How can everyone keep in contact with you on social media?

You can find me on Instagram @Iam.Miyay and/or my label’s website Youth2Kingdoms.com.  Where there’s music from my album, merchandise and also my team of other creators.
