What are the two most important lessons you learned in becoming a working woman who juggles being a salon owner, entrepreneur, master educator and beauty mogul?
The two most important lessons I’ve learned in becoming a working woman is to, be still in every season to fully understand who you are at the moment and cater to what you need in order to be successful. Be spiritually grounded so that the ‘mess’ endured can be a message.
What references or recommendations would you give someone who is thinking of starting their own business?
Do the research, use books, articles, etc. on the area of expertise you will be getting into. Align yourself with the right individuals that you can learn from. Ask yourself constantly is this my niche?
Your felony conviction is a reflection of a different period in your life, have you found the entrepreneurial journey energizing or exhausting?
I would have to say both energizing and exhausting. Energizing comes after the exhaustion. Once you’ve run the race a few times to get it right, you feel burned out for about three seconds. Then you stand there and realize you did it, despite the odds. That feeling is energizing, you feel like you can conquer anything.
What has been the best feedback received after opening Into Me and Wellness Spa?
The best feedback I received is this type of salon and spa environment is changing the game for young beauty professionals up and coming.
What helped you get where you are today and what steps did you take?
My ambition, my will and my hustle helped me get here today. I never gave up on myself. I always set goals and followed through with them. Discipline is a major factor. Write the vision and make it plan and stick to the script with consistency.
Which fictional character in a book or movie would you be the most excited to meet in real life? What activity would you do with them?
I would be excited to meet 11 from stranger things and I would go hang out with her and get her to spy on people.
What’s the most interesting thing you’ve read or seen in the past week?
I seen an article about a pink dolphin being spotted. It was interesting, because for one I had no clue they even exist. But I also think it was a sign from God reminding me that one day I’ll be exposed to the universe just as different and unique as the pink dolphin.
What would be a good theme song for your life?
I’m every woman by Whitney Houston.
What makes you smile and what scares you the most?
Seeing others smile, I find joy in seeing peace within others. What scares me the most is not living to my full potential.
What’s next on the horizon for Kay Turner?
What is next is my new motivational EP titled SERIES 1: EVOLVE, now streaming on all music platforms.

How can everyone keep in contact with you on social media?
Facebook: Kay D Turner . Instagram: @_kaydturner .
I adore this unicorn. I was a year behind Ms. Turner in high school. I would always hear different opinions about her, but whenever we interacted, she was one of the nicest, talented people I’d met at Butler High. As a creative, artistically inclined individual myself, I knew back then she would sprinkle glitter in the world. Who she is today is no surprise to me. GLOW KAY!
