Tell readers about your Royalty Reigns Management and when did you start it?
Royalty Reigns Management was established in New York City in 2015. It is a global brand marketing consultancy managing prestigious Luxury, Beauty, Fashion, Entertainment, Sports and Lifestyle brands. We partner with venture-backed startups, Fortune 500 companies and other prominent brands like Sephora, The Atlanta Braves, Louis Vuitton, Chanel, Google, OWN (Oprah Winfrey Network), Fox Broadcasting, MYX Fusions Moscato and Monami Entertainment.
What inspired you to start your own business?
It was actually a combination of two things:
1. My Public Relations Professor at Benedict College, Dr. Gorelik. My senior year of college, I scheduled a meeting with him to discuss starting my public relations and marketing company. He said, Ms. Tanksley, you have my undivided attention. Unknowingly, when I began to speak, I was informally “pitching” my idea and he just shook his head, smiled at me and told me it was a great idea because it comes naturally for me. I am a leader, and Evangelist* with a Mass Communications degree. After receiving confirmation, I named my company, ordered business cards and moved from Georgia to New York City.
2.) My Role in Corporate America. I served as a Marketing Manager for a household
insurance provider, spearheading integrated marketing communications campaigns for the Sales, Retail Strategy, Media Relations, Community Engagement and Clinical Partnerships departments.
I started as a coordinator handling project with lower budgets. Shortly after, I was promoted and trusted to strategically develop the enterprise’s brand activation campaigns ranging from half a million to over one million dollars. Knowing I had significant responsibility and expertise to create, execute and meet in-market deadlines, I became confident in my gift. I said to myself, If you can be in a position to achieve and fulfill someone else’s vision (the CEO of the enterprise) surely you can do it for yourself. At that point, I decided to marry my two inspirations, resigned from my corporate career and never looked back.
As a business owner, what are your top three priorities?
Purpose, Strategy and Confidence in God (Faith).
What do you feel separates your global consultancy from others?
At Royalty Reigns Management, we focus on quality and forming a covenant with our clients. We are consultants who create our lane and operate unconventionally to assess and define our client’s purpose, products, services and personality. Also, we have international partners who have seen the results of our techniques and support us in the execution of our Celebrity and organizational campaigns. Our consultancy has a department to consult and curate resources for new or emerging brands. So that they can gain insight into how we market the brands of our high-profile clients, which is something you won’t see from communications firms. They want to avoid giving out too much information. Royalty Reigns Management has a unique approach to elevating new to established brands keeps my consultancy in-demand as the leading consultants and strategists for high profile individuals and companies across the country.
What are some of your goals for the future of Royalty Reigns Management?
To Launch the Billionaire Brand Academy, expand the Brand Shop and being that I manage an artist by the name of Sir Khan, I will extend the Royalty Reigns Management brand into the music and media arena.
If you had one piece of advice for someone just starting out, what would it be?
Read, Read, Read! Eat, sleep, breathe and continuously work toward sharpening your gift. Never stop learning, it may seem like you’re becoming obsessed with your idea, but that’s where I believe you should be. It eliminates room for distractions, you will create an atmosphere of confidence and assurance where you will look to no one for validation. In addition to that, as you learn, don’t let tradition paralyze your mind! Success comes from managed thinking you have to learn but not conform to someone else’s beliefs. You were created to create!
What is something you will never do again?
I will never second guess my value based on someone else’s inability to pay my worth.
What skill would you like to master?
Podcasting for sure.
What’s your best childhood memory?
When my little sister was born, I prayed for her! I gained a best friend, understood she was apart of my purpose, someone I could protect and look up to me. As a child, I believe there is no greater feeling then gaining a sibling.
Concert or Broadway Play?
Concert, I need to vibe, get up and sing along like I’m on the stage.
Disney World or the beach?
Disney World, I grew up on Disney movies and I will always love it!
Grammys or Oscars?
This a tough one, both! I can’t bring myself to choose just one, because I cater to both industries.
What was one of the best days of your life?
When I met Mona Scott-Young and she introduced me to my first client.
