Tell readers about the five books that you have published?

I wrote five books to help others who may be going through trials and tribulations in their lives.  Still Standing I & II, I spoke about my life, losing my husband, having colon cancer and the trials of becoming a widow.  Words from a Widow I & II is a workbook and a handbook on what to expect when you become a widow.  This book answers some of the questions that widows ask after losing their husband. Every situation and mourning process is different, but it helps to read about other situations and experiences.  My last book, My Testimony, I just gave my reader an outlook on how life has been 5 years after the loss of my husband, being a single mother and being in a different head space.

When did you start your Destiny Collection Boutique and what inspired you to start it?

As a writer, I love notebooks, coffee mugs and etc., with sassy quotes.  I decided to make my own notebook line to inspire authors to write.

Tell readers about your Mackin Miracles and do you plan on starting anymore foundations or do you donate your time to any other charities?

The Mackin Miracles formally known as The Mackin Project was started to assist widows and children who’ve recently lost a spouse or parent to violence.  For the last two years we started adopting families for thanksgiving and Christmas. I plan on starting another foundation, but I haven’t figured it out yet.

What type of publishing services do you offer for someone to trying to write a book?

My company is a full service publishing company.  Anything from editing services, to graphic design for your book cover to getting you on the Amazon bestselling list.  I believe that everyone has a story and we want to help our clients get their stories in the hands of millions.

Are there any upcoming projects coming up or another book being released this year for you?

I have several projects coming up.  One project is top secret and unfortunately I cannot say at this time.  But I am happy to working on a book with Gangsta Boo (Three6Mafia).  She has always been one of my favorite rappers, so it is an honor to work on her book.

Since you are very diverse in your endeavors, what or who inspired you to do all the things you have done?

My children inspired and inspires me each and every day.  If it wasn’t for them, I do not know where I would be.

Giving the opportunity to do everything over again, is there anything you would change.

No, I live with no regrets and I take everything as a lesson.

What is one thing or advice you would give to new or established, but struggling entrepreneurs?

Take your time and do your research. An empire isn’t made over night, it takes time, patience and hustle.

Share some of your failures and the best lessons you have learned from them?

When I started the Destiny Collection, it was an online business that was doing very well.  Because it was doing well, I decided to open up a retail space that had space to do other things in there.  I had retail space in the front, event space in the middle and an office in the back.  But because I did not carefully plan, I was all over the place.  I think planning and research is very crucial for your business.
