Jonathon Simmons scored a career-high 35 points against the Milwaukee Bucks. The Orlando Magic defeated the Bucks 126-117 on Wednesday and snapped a five game losing streak. Simmons also had 4 rebounds, 3 assists and a career-high seven 3-pointers. Simmons has been on role lately for the Magic and proving he deserved his three-year $18 million deal last off-season.
Simmons has averaged 26.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 2.75 apg in his last four games and shooting 46.7% from the field. Simmons is averaging 13.6 ppg, 3.4 rpg and 2.5 assists this season. Simmons has scored 24 points or more in his last three games. Simmons had a horrible game against his former team the San Antonio Spurs. Simmons only scored 10 points with 1 rebound, shooting 3-of-13 from the field.
Simmons has found what he was looking for in Orlando, a bigger role and more playing time. The Spurs had another undiscovered gem and a younger one at that. If Simmons continues to have nights like this, the Spurs should have paid him and gave him more playing time. The Magic may have secured the steal of 2017 free agency, only time will tell.
