Who or what inspired you to open Scentsible Fragrances…

My grandmother and mother, I lost them both to pancreatic and colon cancer. However, I did not lose the daily teaching imbedded in me throughout my childhood. I sat on this idea for about five years until God gave me the name for my brand.  Creating Scentsible Fragrances allowed me to cast down generational strongholds and generational curses.  Our brand is more than just a product, it tells our story one fragrance at a time.  Our story is one that people from all over the world will relate to.  We pride ourselves in producing products that satisfy our customers and exceed their expectations.

One thing I use in my business everyday is…

I tap into my creative juices and allow myself to express myself through the art of fragrance.  When I am creating fragrances and blending them together, my vision becomes clearer.  This is when I realize the differences between invention and innovation.  Each fragrance has its own personality infused throughout our all-natural soy candle wax to ensure great performance and strong fragrance throw.  When we attach the Scentsible Fragrance Brand name to something, we want to make sure it not only satisfies our consumers, but it exceeds their expectations.

My top three priorities as a business owner are…

Increasing my business efficiency and establishing new ways to reach our target audience, Customer Satisfaction and We strive to maintain healthy work life balance to prevent burnout and maintain our personal wellbeing.

The hardest part about growing my business is…

Entrepreneurship is a marathon, not a sprint.  Growing the business requires me to set realistic goals that are achievable within set timeframes, having extreme patience, balance and not being afraid to seek help from other entrepreneurs when needed.  This journey can be lonely at times, especially when nobody really understands your vision.  Sometimes people just do not understand why I can go to bed at midnight and pop right back up at 4 AM.  My brain is constantly on the go with creativity and innovative ways on how I can penetrate the fragrance industry.

One thing customers should know about my business that they may not be aware of is…

The Founder and Owner is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. When customers purchase products from the Scentsible Fragrances Brand, a percentage of their purchase goes towards community outreach, health literacy, healthcare promotion and disease prevention.  These community efforts fall under the GweBet Collection.  Losing my mother (Gwena Faye Alexander) and grandmother (Betty Ann Mills) to cancer inspired me to create a legacy that would honor them for years to come. A legacy that could not be erased.

The decade that had the best music was…

The 90’s and early 2000’s.  I remember when I used to party like a “Rockstar”. I would bounce to songs from artists like Missy Elliott, The 69 Boyz, Master P, Mia X, Lil John and East Side Boyz, Pastor Troy, Trick Daddy, Trina, etc.  I could never recite all the lyrics to any, but it was something about those beats that kept me on the dance floor.

When I feel stressed, my first reaction is…

Take a seat, breath in and out, very slowly several times to release and make every effort to reset.  The formula I use to reset is tapping into my spirituality, as I remember the promises of God.  Seeking counsel from my closest friends, prayer warriors and reaching out to my life coach.  These are the people that I trust.  They provide a safe space for me to inhale and exhale.

My life changed for the better when…

I left my hometown in Columbus, Georgia and began to explore the world and everything in it.  I began to meet people from all walks of life that showed me that life is full of possibilities.  I just had to believe that I could do it. My mother and father were on drugs throughout my childhood.  However, I didn’t have any voids because of my loving grandmother.  My grandmother ensured that me and my siblings had some of what we wanted and all of what we needed.  I will forever be grateful to my grandmother, all I ever wanted to do was make her proud.  I am still thriving and standing on the shoulders of my praying grandmother.  Surely, she is watching closely and keeping a record from heaven.  I represent the works of her hands.

Something people would be surprised to know about me is…

I cannot swim.  I have been to several different places, enjoyed the aquatic waters and sandy beaches but never really experienced the water.

What brings you the greatest satisfaction…

Seeing my sons, family and friends healthy and living well.  Health is the new wealth.  When everyone is prospering and living heathy lives it makes my heart smile.
